The Grand Ole Party

Congressman Rodney Alexander stated to the North Atlantic Business and Industry Alliance on Monday, August 24, 2010 that he was there to talk about the things Congress is doing that impacts business positively and negatively. “I don’t really know of anything positive”, he said. This is the same script you are hearing from all Republicans. This strategy has been rehearsed by Vitter, Alexander and the entire Republican delegation. The words of President Dwight D. Eisenhower must be made loud and clear to the American people. “A people that value its privileges above its principles soon lose both.” These Republicans do not represent the Grand Ole Party that I love and cherish. The Grand Ole Party has always yielded to the call of America’s future. This is Washington Politics as usual. The Rhinos were in control along with a Republican President and neither Health Care Insurance Reform, nor Tort Reform was passed. These are the same no vision politicians who President Obama owes his election win. The Bush Tax Cuts, like the Obama Stimulus Package, was irresponsible. Businesses understand that you do not give 2.8 trillion dollars in tax cuts and not cut the federal budget by 2.8 trillion dollars because this will lead to large deficits in the future. Instead, under Rhino Republicans, we had the largest expansion of government since 1974. There were only 3 million jobs created in eight years. That is a meager 338,000 jobs per year, which equals to 7,500 jobs a year for each state. Where were the jobs? Where are they now? The Bush Tax Cuts and the Obama Stimulus Package are prime examples of both parties playing Santa Clause. They were both passed with borrowed money and created large deficits.

Businesses will not spend nor invest money unless there is a demand and that is why they are holding their large sums of cash. They are waiting on politicians to start being statesmen and that means putting America first. Freedom and prosperity is never more than one generation away. Americans want leaders that make them feel like Americans again. It is time to get back to basics. Businesses want congress to address entitlements (Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security) which is over 60% of the Federal Budget.
Eliminate the Department of Education and place control of education back to the local level. Earned Income Tax Credit is given to individuals who pay very little or no taxes but receive large refunds. Spousal refusal whereby Medicare in part created the condition that have led couples to take drastic measures to divorcing a spouse so they do not lose their entire savings when needing Long Term Care. Washington must address these important issues.

We must create 3 million jobs for the jobless rate to drop one percentage point. It will be 2015 or 2016 before America’s jobless rate drops below 6%.

Less taxes and less government must be authored by real statesmen and not politicians. Everyone must make sacrifices. Yes, I can understand it. An intelligent plan of action is the key to gaining the trust of businesses throughout America.

The Grand Ole Party will rise again and so will our great Republic. A vision of America’s future is in its history.
